Mesh connectivity between SMFs and UPFs in 5G Network
Mesh connectivity in 5G network enables all UPFs in the region to connected to all SMFs in the region. Each SMF can connect to 1024 UPFs, and each UPF can connect to 4 SMFs.
So that if one or more UPF or SMF instances fail, the mesh connectivity allows the remaining instances to continue operating without disruption.
In addition, mesh connectivity enables dynamic load balancing between the UPF and SMF instances, allowing the network to distribute the workload efficiently. This helps in optimizing resource utilization and ensuring the overall performance of the network.

5G Core Network Architecture
In this post, we will learn 5G Network Architecture. The control plane in 5G network includes the AMF, the SMF, the AUSF, the UDM, and the PCF. While the user plane includes the UPF. The control plane is not including those network functions only, there are another network functions in the control plane, that will be discussed later. In…

What is 5G CUPS in 5G Network ?
In this post we will learn what is 5G CUPS. CUPS refers to "control plane and user plane separation". 5G CUPS means that the 5G network is separated into "control plane" and "user plane". In order to understand CUPS, first we should know that in order for the UE to be able to exchange user…

5G Network Slicing
5G Network Slicing means that, to divide the physical network that the operator is having, into different logical networks with different characteristics. Every logical network, is a network slice. And every network slice has different characteristics from the other network slices, so that it can serve a certain type of services accordingly. Every network function…
