Sigfox for IoT in Mobile Networks

Sigfox is a low-power, long-range wireless communication system for IoT (Internet of Things) applications.

This technology is not directly integrated into mobile networks. However it works in conjunction with mobile networks using the integration of Sigfox gateways.

Sigfox has built its own global network of base stations, and operates as a network service provider, offering connectivity to IoT devices. It operates in the unlicensed radio bands, which reduces the overall deployment costs.

This technology provides wide range coverage for IoT devices, but with low bit-rate capabilities. It has extremely low power consumption, allowing IoT devices to operate for up to 10 years on a single battery.
