S-CSCF in IMS Network
S-CSCF refers to "Serving Call Session Control Function". It is the central node in the IMS network.
The roles of the S-CSCF include,
- Handles the Registration of the UEs to the IMS network, and stores registration information of the UEs.
- Retrieves user profile information of each registered UE from the HSS/UDM.
- Controls the multimedia sessions, including session establishment, modification, and termination.
- Triggers various IMS services for the UEs according to their user profile information and according to configurations.
