IP protocol in Mobile Networks

IP protocol (Internet Protocol), is the principal networking protocol that is responsible for exchanging data packets between network nodes.

IP protocol is the backbone of modern mobile networks. It enables the exchange of data between different network nodes. And it enables data transfer, and the delivery of IP services to mobile network users.

During session establishment, the mobile network assigns an IP address to the mobile device. This IP address allows the mobile device to communicate over the network.

In the evolution of mobile networks, the transition from 2G/3G to 4G and 5G, has further emphasised the role of IP. As 4G and 5G networks are fully based on IP protocol, which provides better network efficiency.
