Q: What is the purpose of “tag” field in “From” header in “Invite” SIP message in IMS call initiation ?
A: During call initiation, the UE sends an "invite" message to the P-CSCF. this invite message contains a "From" Header which contains a "tag" field.
The "From" Header contains the contact address of the UE that initiated the call. while the "tag" field is used as a unique identifier for this dialogue from the initiator UE prospective.
