CHF (Charging Function) in 5G Network
CHF stands for 'Charging Function'. It is a Network Function that exists in the control plane in 5G Core network. The CHF is responsible for charging in 5G Network, it supports both online and offline charging.
It interacts with the SMF during the active user session to perform online charging.
In addition, it collects Charging Data Records (CDRs) from various network elements to perform offline charging, and reports those CDRs to the Billing System for charging of the users.
